Fabric Records

Who are they?
Fabric records is a UK based record label which produces dance and electronic music. They own a nightclub in Farrington London. They produce their own CD mixes which they then release onto their record label. They play this music in their nightclub which is a form of self promotion.

What artists does the label promote?
The label promotes unknown artists, and known independent electronic music producers. The labels sells CD's of mixes and songs these artists produce. A full list of artists and the mix CD'S they have produced is available here.

Are the artists well known?
The majority of the artists are unknown, with some artists like Goldie, A-Trak, and Noisia who have had minor mainstream success.

How does the label benefit from new media technology?

Marketing
New media technology helps market the record label because of the emergence of social media websites like Facebook and Twitter. The record label can use these websites to advertise their nightclub and compilation mixes. They could also video sharing websites like Youtube, to share these songs.

Distribution
They can make their compilation mixes available easily by using online downloads on iTunes and Spotify.  iTunes and Spotify is also accessible on mobile devices which means they can distribute on a global scale.

Does your label feature on the Radio 1 playlist?
Yes, sometimes A-Trak and Noisia will be on the playlist since they are moderately famous and mainstream but the majority of Fabric's artists wont be. They cater to a niche nightclub audience specifically the audience that attends Fabric Nightclub.
